English Today is an innovative product for English language learning, designed to gain maximum advantage from the DVD format and aimed at the needs of the target consumer.
It represents a completely new approach:
instead of the typical video-lesson structure, a teacher guides the student through a series of narrative episodes arranged as in a sit-com.
It is the Hungarian Edition, but the DVD can be used by non-Hungarian speakers, too. (The instructions in the additional pdf file are in Hungarian.)

English Today is an innovative product for English language learning, designed to gain maximum advantage from the DVD format and aimed at the needs of the target consumer.
It is not simply the next stage in the advancement from video cassettes or CD-ROM\u2019s, but a whole new kind of product. It represents a completely new approach: instead of the typical video-lesson structure, a teacher guides the student through a series of narrative episodes arranged as in a sit-com.
There are also interactive exercises so that the user can practice what he or she has learned. All with the flexibility afforded by a multimedia product.
Each publication (or module) presents three main features:
- The DVD, compatible with either a television or a computer. The DVD is the core of the course,
- An audio CD containing the transcriptions from the video episodes on the DVD along with some new interesting materials for in-depth study and revision.
- A paperback course book with the transcriptions of the episodes from the DVD and their translation, exercises and a section dedicating special attention to new vocabulary.
Each DVD consists of a video episode and a lesson which clarifies the language issues set out in the programme. The \u201cstandard\u201d lessons are integrated by a \u201cspecial\u201d lesson at the end of each DVD. This may be either a video episode with an independent storyline or a cartoon based on typical literature or cinema genres and which explores the language of various expressive forms. Each lesson also contains a workshop section with interactive exercises and grammar tables to test specific grammar skills and check progress.
Qualification:
The course is recognized by the ETS (Educational Testing Service) as a valid method of preparation for the TOEFL® iBT exam, the English language test required of all foreign students applying to study in the United States and also used by many Italian and European Universities.
The course is also a useful preparation for the TOEIC®, the business orientated exam.
